The Huantsán Trek

A blend of adventure and culture
13 days / 12 nights

This trip takes you to the far less visited eastern slopes of the Cordillera Blanca, known as the Callejón de Conchucos.

We walk up the wild and arid valley of Raria in desert-like surroundings, and camp at the foot of snow-capped Mururaju (5 688 m). After crossing a barren high altitude pass, we descend to the town of Chavín de Huantar: its archaeological site, one of the oldest pre-Colombian ceremonial centres of Peru, still withholds many mysteries.

As we follow an ancient trail up into the mountains, we pass through several small Andean villages, where life has retained its traditional rhythm. Further on, we are rewarded with a truly spectacular view of Huantsán (6 400 m), one of the Cordillera Blanca’s major peaks. To finish off this exciting journey, we head down the beautiful valley of Carhuascancha.

This comprehensive tour is a perfect blend of adventure and culture, set in a breathtaking environment.
