The Olleros – Chavín Trail

Accessible to all !
3 days / 2 nights

This 3 day trek is perfect for a first experience in the high mountains or as part of an acclimatizing program.

We follow a pre-Columbian trail which winds its way up into the puna (dry high altitude grasslands). We reach Yanashallash Pass, the highest point of our itinerary at 4 700 m.

As we descend on the eastern slopes of the Cordillera Blanca, we marvel at the giant Huantsán (6 395 m), in ancient times one of the most revered peaks. The last stage is a visit to the remains of one of the oldest ceremonial centres of Peru in Chavín, which dates from the 1st millenium B.C. In the course of the afternoon, we return to Huaraz by bus.
